Flat plans of covers

Here are two flat plans for my covers. I design two of them so I could choose which one I preferred to design for my piece.

Here is a design with a big image on the right and the text going down the left of the page. I really like this idea as you can see the full figure of the model, so the audience can make out the music star. The masthead is big across the top of the page, so it takes up 1/8 and doesn't break common conventions. The text down the side will have bold titles with some text underneath to tell the audience about whats inside of the magazine. The barcode is also down in the bottom right corner.

Here is my second design I like this one better than the top image as it has one main image of a medium shot. The model will be looking directly at the audience not breaking common conventions. There will be a strip across the middle telling the audience the models name. I will also add text on the right side and along the bottom telling the audience what else is in the magazine. There is also a sticker on the left side offering the audience a free poster.

I believe the second one is a lot better than the first one as it has more going on and looks more like a front cover, whereas the top one looks more like a contents page. I will use the second design whilst making my magazine front cover.
