Poster critical reflection

Here is my finished film poster trying to distribute my film towards my target audience. It is selling a horror film called "Remembrance day". I think my film poster does it job really well by selling it to my target audience as  it represents the genre of horror, however if I had more time I think I could have improved it. Many of the posters that I researched into their common conventions included production logos, credits, etc. on their film posters however I choose not to stick to this common convention as some of the posters didn't include this. Many posters included images of the main characters for example heros, villians, etc. However again I decided to go against this as I thought it would look to similar to poster going against the common convention.

The typography on the poster suits the genre of horror very well although it does seem quite hard to read for the audience. If someone was to look briefly at this poster I'm not sure if they would take the infrmation in. That is why I decided to not include to much text on the poster so the audience wouldn't have to take too much information in. If I were to do the text again I think I would add a website adress at the bottom of the page so the audience knew where to find more information about the film. Using gold text connotes of champion or winner, I used gold as it tells the audience that the ones that died are champions for their country. The line remember the dead furthers this as they should be remembered. It took some time to get the correct colour for the text as it was much more yellow when I began. This took up abit of time shortening the time I had on creating my poster.

I decided to just have the poppy in its main colour (red). When I created the poster it firstly had numerous poppies in there normal colour around the poppy, although I found adding the black and white effect onto the poppies related more to the genre of horror. Then just making the main one in the middle stand out connotes of it standing alone. When I took the image it wasn't of great quality as it was a bit out of focus so I had to edit it on photoshop this took some time as well espeically getting the right colours for the poppy and the text. If I were to do this again I believe I would make sure I saved more time aside for it. I would add more text at the bottom of the page, maybe add images of the hero or villans and I would also have more simple text form.
